Living Trees Genealogy Network is the only platform that integrates social networking into the idea of managing a genealogy and DNA project as a basic function. At Ancestry.com for example you have to be a paid member to send messages and collaborate. It does not provide a useful or easy way to manage a DNA project. Collaboration is limited to 'email' style messages and not instant communication. FTDNA.com offers project management and a social feed but it does not offer direct instant communication and collaboration. People use generic social media sites to facilitate their genealogy and DNA projects. These generic sites are not necessarily ideal for such projects. The minimum requirements for online genealogy and DNA research should include a social network that facilitates collaboration, communication, and creativity as a base-level service.
